![]() ![]() ![]() Now to do the actual frequency splitting. You can now name this new cloned channel 'Low' if you want to keep better track of it, and rename the original channel to "Mid-High"ĥ. That way, instead of distorting a sound as a whole, for instance, we can distort ONLY the mids or ONLY the sub with this technique. This is done mainly to have better control over specific bands of frequencies within a sound. So why do we have 2 copies of the same synth you might ask? Because what we need to do now is do some frequency splitting. Now, clone the 3xOSC channel we just made by right clicking on it and selecting 'Clone.' (PRO-TIP: Play around with different waveform combinations to create a new sound of your own!)Ĥ. The triangle wave is just different from the cookie-cutter reece, so it sounds unique! And the sine is there to help carry the whole thing along. The result? What's commonly known as a Reece. This is done so that rather than just have a flat signal going through the speaker, you are creating a new curve (a function) with a different frequency, that occasionally overlaps with the other curves (other waveforms). Ok, so, we have a Triangle, Saw, and Sine waveform combination. For the sake of learning in this tutorial, my waveforms looked like this:Īlright, here's the part where you start learning from the tutorial! Omigosh! Well, we got our synth up, now what? Design a waveform, that's what! At first I went with a basic reece, but decided to try a Triangle-Saw-Sine combination. *Note: you can use your own synth VST in here that's capable of using 3 oscillators for a more unique sound.*ģ. Not because you won't learn it in here, but because you need to grasp the concept before you can make a good bassline or stab!ġ. If you haven't read my tutorial on splitting frequencies in FL by now, I suggest you do so before you continue. Toss in a few filters as well to add your own flavor.Predatohm (or your favorite tube distortion plug-in).TC Works Native Bundle's Compressor Deesser (or your favorite compressor plug-in).The problem with the scene today is that everyone wants to be everyone else! BE UNIQUE! Rant over :rolleyes2 ) I'm taking the time to write this for you guys so you can LEARN from it, not COPY from it. Don't (that's right, do NOT) follow this tutorial step-by-step. Please, please PLEASE do yourself a favor. Ez dogs, I'm back with a second tutorial! This time, it's inspired by me mucking around in FL again, trying to come up with some filthy stabs. ![]()
